FRONTLINE VOICES

Frontline Voices transforms storytelling into organizing. Youth create powerful digital media that confronts injustice, elevates community voices, and calls others to join the movement. By building their skills as cultural strategists and media makers, young people shape narratives that strengthen collective power and inspire action for climate justice.

Apply by April 27th!

My name is Alexa Young

Join us this summer for a 3-week workshop series where Oakland youth turn their ideas into powerful multimedia projects. Explore real environmental issues impacting your neighborhood and learn how to tell stories that matter. You’ll connect your lived experiences to a multimedia project, build cultural strategy and creative leadership skills, while simultaneously learning how to craft compelling narratives and how to produce videos for community impact.

By the end of the program, students will be able to present their projects in a final exhibition open to the community.

WHAT IS YOUR CLIMATE JUSTICE STORY?

Through Frontline Voices, we harness the power of digital storytelling to amplify youth voices. Using personal narratives, photos, videos, and other multimedia outlets, youth share their authentic experiences, reaching the community through engaging and creative platforms.

FC Youth leaders participating in our digital storytelling workshops develop personal narratives for transformative healing by connecting environmental issues and climate change with racial, social, and economic inequities and systemic barriers to community health. They explore the creative and technical elements of multimedia production, taking on roles as producers, videographers, photographers, designers, writers, and editors.
